This Week in TV: McConaughey Shills for a Local Video Store

It was a great week in late night TV. Jimmy Kimmel took his traveling circus back to Austin for South by Southwest and tons of great people came to visit. Seth Meyers really stepped up with some delightful interviews. Jimmy Fallon continued to be Hollywood’s favorite friendly neighbor, serving up some Catchphrase with his buddy Wiz Khalifa and improv comedy with Will Ferrell. And the real fake news squad really threw down the gauntlet, as Jon Stewart went into full attack mode on sexual discrimination and John Oliver devoted 20 minutes to ripping apart the NCAA for being a huge joke—and just in time for March Madness! The after-dark set really put in the time this week, so let’s honor them reliving the laughs with this week’s best of TV.

Jimmy Kimmel Live!—Jimmy Kimmel and Matthew McConaughey Make a Local TV Commercial for Vulcan Video (Above)

This gives McConaughey’s Lincoln adds a run for their money in the crazy department, but the one with the Longhorn is still maximum clowntown, even in the face of these promos for Vulcan Video.

Late Night with Seth Meyers—Senator Ted Cruz On His ‘The World Is On Fire’ Comments and Global Warming

Ted Cruz says it’s time to listen to the science, guys.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon—Catchphrase With Jim Parsons, Miles Teller, and Wiz Khalifa

This got so stressful we had to pause the video after the first round. Catchphrase is the worst spectator sport!

Jimmy Kimmel Live!—Kevin Hart on Roasting Justin Bieber

Man oh man. Justin Bieber really stepped in it by pleading with Comedy Central to roast him. Slate compiled a list of some of the hardest hitting insults from the event, and even Martha Stewart took shots at the newly 21-year-old. This could be a huge night for the network. When was the last time Comedy Central had a roast generating this much buzz? But if you’re sweating the Biebs, hopefully it’s worth every last shred of pride he has. If you want to hear Hart talk about working out with the Texas Longhorns football team until he threw up, you can watch that video here. We tried to fight it, but we’re definitely Kevin Hart converts.

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart—Meth Labs of Democracy: Don’t Mess With Sexes

Oklahomaphobia! Hahahahaha—it’s totally funny because it’s awful and sad! For the conclusion of this segment, and to see WIRED house favorite Jessica Williams explain what a “Magic Cone” is, follow this link and check it out.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver—The NCAA

John Oliver always brings it, but March Sadness 2015 is genius even for him.

Late Night with Seth Meyers—Keri Russell Was the Coolest Member of the Mickey Mouse Club

Who would have guessed that when Keri Russell stole our hearts back in 1998 with Felicity she would eventually resurge into cultural significance with straight hair! Russell seems totally legit. She’s incredible on The Americans, and looks like she’s having the best time. And there’s something perfectly dorky about wearing the t-shirt of the show you’re on and being super proud about it. If you want to hear about what Russell names each of her wigs on The Americans, watch the rest of her very charming interview here.

Jimmy Kimmel Live!—Barack Obama on Tweeting and Smartphones

President Barack Obama doesn’t need to sit in a taller chair to be so much cooler than anyone he’s with. But Sasha and Malia probably still think he’s the worst, because that’s their adolescent right. Maybe Jon Stewart will wait long enough to retire for B-Rock to slide into his hosting chair. President Obama also spoke on the implications of what transpired in Ferguson, both last year and just a few days ago, and you can listen to those remarks here.

Conan—Zachary Quinto Remembers Leonard Nimoy

Aw, it’s Spock on Spock! (Yes, we know there is only one true Spock, but it’s still a lovely bit of tribute.)

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon—Will Ferrell Is Little Debbie

If Will Ferrell had the entire hour on The Tonight Show you know these two would have stretched this bit out for the duration of the show. Get Hard is so far receiving pretty bad reviews, but at least we’re getting this surreal performance art ahead of time.

Bonus Track: Late Night with Seth Meyers—Seth Gets Drunk on St. Patrick’s Day

Seth should drunk host way more often.
