By now, a lot of you might have heard about a big production that WIRED has been steadily working on for the last year: WIRED by Design (WxD), a two-day creative retreat featuring talks by some of the world’s best designers and design-thinkers. By necessity, it’s an intimate affair, with just a couple hundred guests drawn from some of the most creative corners of business today. But if you’re not there, we’re going to do our best to put you there. In the coming days, you’ll see stories drawn from WxD.
So, let’s say you want to hear what legendary game designer Ian Bogost has to say about how constraints, rather than freedom, make games fun. Or what Gentry Underwood, the lead designer at Dropbox, believes to be the greatest challenge facing designers today. Or how Dava Newman and Gui Trotti are designing a spacesuit that will limit the extreme beating that astronauts undergo in space. You’re in luck! We’ll be sharing accounts of all their talks, including others by prince of the geeks Adam Savage, architect Bjarke Ingels, co-creator of Lost Carlton Cuse, director Jeff Nichols, and many, many others. Thanks for tuning in. We’ll have more to share, soon.
