Want proof that, indeed, we are the world? Turns out we maybe don’t need to hear it from Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, and dozens of other pop stars. We need to hear it from astronauts. The upcoming documentary Planetary is out to show just that.
“The really wonderful thing that happened to me when I was in space,” NASA astronaut Mae Jemison says in the doc, “was this feeling of belonging to the entire universe.”
Tying together images from NASA Apollo missions and interviews with space explorers and other experts, director Guy Reid’s movie is, according to its description, “a cross continental, cinematic journey that explores our cosmic origins and our future as a species.” Sounds cool, but this movie had us at “images from NASA Apollo missions.” Check out the premiere of the trailer for Planetary , which premieres this month at South by Southwest, above.
