Add “buying even more stuff” to the long list of things your smartphone can do for you. With Amazon’s release of its Fire Phone, the shopping behemoth has given us a tool that makes it easier to buy, stream, download, and otherwise consume even more goods from its physical and digital warehouses. Unfortunately, the Fire Phone is not a great phone at all. But conceptually, at least, it’s interesting enough that it can’t be ignored. Mat and Mike break it down. Other topics: Google Shopping Express versus AmazonFresh. Microsoft’s post-layoff mobile strategy, and the continuing awesomeness of the new low-priced Nokia Lumias. Facebook’s booming mobile ad business and how that’s shaping the social experience on a whole. Also, if you like to tipple while you listen, there’s a bonus drinking game in this week’s show: Every time Mat giggles or Mike says “Uh, I don’t know,” do a shot. Good luck!
